Exam Week

Exam week is nearly over. You remember how it was when you crammed a semester's worth of studying into some very long nights. It always helped to have friends to study with, or at least to keep you awake, although most of my friends were smarter than I was and decided to get some sleep while I tried to pull all-nighters.

I finally found after trial and error that I truly need some sleep when I have some cramming to do, and that if I go to sleep and wake up 4 hours later I am much better off than not getting any sleep at all. After all, my brain does not function nearly as well without some rest.

I hope I don't need to practice cramming again, it took its toll while I was in college. But I do sympathize with high schoolers everywhere this week have survived exam week. Rest up.

Tough Stuff

Beginning October 1 on Wednesday evenings, I will be guiding a group study based on Chuck Swindoll's book Getting Through the Tough Stuff. We will explore big problems that arise and what to do to get through. Topics include: anxiety, temptation, misunderstanding, divorce, remarriage, shame, doubt, death, pain, prejudice, hypocrisy, inadequacy, disqualification and confrontation.

If any or all these are important to you or someone you care about, I trust you can join us at Second Baptist Church for this adult education series on Wednesday evenings beginning October 1. For more information, send me an email.
